The Griffin Institute
This medical research and training charity, formerly known as NPIMR (Northwick Park Institute of Medical Research). It has a lot of similarities with RAFT in terms of goals and objectives. The three main activities:
- practical training of plastic surgeons through their official training courses,
- research into tissue and organ reconstruction,
- contract work on evaluation of products
All 3 activities are run at their facilities at the Northwick Park and St Mark’s Hospital in Harrow.
University College London (UCL)
UCL is ranked number one in the UK for research strength and won the largest funding allocation from the UK research councils in 2013 (£135m). It has the greatest number of prestigious Doctoral Training Centres and received the third highest number of academic citations per faculty member in the UK. RAFT is collaborating with University College London (UCL) on the bionic prosthetics research project.
UCL Eastman Dental Institute
UCL Eastman Dental Institute is a world-leading, academic centre for postgraduate dentistry and translational research, based in London. The institute is a world-class research centre that aims to continually improve systemic and oral heath through the development of novel treatments, therapies, diagnostics and smart materials. RAFT is working in collaboration with the UCL Eastman Dental Institute on the 3D facial reconstruction surgery research project.
