One of Wales’ leading stage and screen actresses (and Patron of RAFT), Siân Phillips, has been made a dame in the 2016 New Year honours list.
Siân Phillips has had a distinguished acting career for some 60 years.
Her performance as Livia in ”I Claudius” and Mam in ”How Green Was My Valley?” won her a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) and are still remembered today. She is still delivering innovative and award-winning performances and her reputation in the Welsh arts has been recognised by the founding of the annual ”TlwsSiân Phillips Award”, presented to a Welsh actor or actress who has made a significant contribution to film or television.
Dame Siân Phillips, CBE, is a patron of Sherman Cymru and of RAFT, a leading medical research organisation which helps people regain their quality of life, independence and dignity after major trauma.
